Study Abroad in India

Several summer US study-abroad groups visiting India stop at S M Sehgal Foundation for students to discuss issues with senior staff, tour nearby villages and interact with field staff and community members with whom the foundation works. Topics vary according to the study-abroad theme, such as sustainable development, women’s empowerment, rural water management, civic participation in villages, NGO management, and agricultural issues.
Winterim: North American universities from time to time hold three-week winter interim classes in India in December/January taught by US faculty with village interaction facilitated by SMSF staff. The US-India Education Foundation awarded a grant for expansion of one such program.
Other study-abroad programs have visited SMSF and its field sites for a few days during a tour of multiple organizations.

University administrators or faculty interested in such collaboration may write to SMSF Administration at academic@smsfoundation.org to express interest.
